The spool and braking system have both been modified to create a baitcaster that handles small, light lures for \u003cstrong\u003eperch and trout fishing\u003c\/strong\u003e - and light saltwater applications - with real precision. At the heart of the build is a \u003cstrong\u003every lightweight Avail Microcast spool\u003c\/strong\u003e that, including its bearings, tips the scales at just 7.9 g. It has \u003cstrong\u003eoutstanding start-up behaviour\u003c\/strong\u003e, even with tiny plugs and other small, light lures. Even a short, compact casting stroke is enough to get the spool spinning - and once it's running, it runs. To keep those casts clean and tangle-free, the reel is fitted with a \u003cstrong\u003espiral magnet braking system\u003c\/strong\u003e. The neodymium magnets sit on a rail and can be repositioned; up to 4 magnets can be removed entirely. This gives you extremely fine adjustment and delivers \u003cstrong\u003eexceptional casting precision\u003c\/strong\u003e, especially at close to mid range.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003ePerformance Through and Through\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe \u003cem\u003eTailwalk Fullrange Avail Custom LH\u003c\/em\u003e has a \u003cstrong\u003ecompact, slim and low-profile design\u003c\/strong\u003e. The frame is aluminium and the side plate is carbon, a combination that keeps the weight extremely low while still providing \u003cstrong\u003ehigh rigidity and torsional stiffness\u003c\/strong\u003e. The side plate opens automatically once released, giving you instant access to the magnet braking system. The other key brake is the star drag, which uses carbon drag washers and delivers a \u003cstrong\u003emaximum drag force of 6.5 kg\u003c\/strong\u003e. For such a lightweight reel this is a very strong drag, more than capable of handling large fish - and it does so with power while remaining \u003cstrong\u003esmooth and consistent\u003c\/strong\u003e. The reel is driven by an 80 mm carbon handle with EVA knobs that sit comfortably in the hand in any weather. The first is the \u003cem\u003e81L\/AC-F8\u003c\/em\u003e, the second the \u003cem\u003e81L\/AC-F12\u003c\/em\u003e. The 81 refers to the \u003cstrong\u003egear ratio of 8.1:1\u003c\/strong\u003e and the L stands for LH - both models are therefore \u003cstrong\u003eleft-hand wind\u003c\/strong\u003e, typically used by right-handed anglers. AC stands for Avail Custom, as this is the \u003cstrong\u003etuned special edition born from the collaboration between Tailwalk and Avail\u003c\/strong\u003e. F8 and F12 refer to the fluorocarbon breaking strain for which the spool capacities are specified in the original Japanese product data. The \u003cem\u003eF8 model\u003c\/em\u003e has a spool capacity of \u003cstrong\u003e60 m of fluorocarbon at 8 lb breaking strain\u003c\/strong\u003e, while the \u003cem\u003eF12 model\u003c\/em\u003e holds \u003cstrong\u003e60 m at 12 lb breaking strain\u003c\/strong\u003e. In diameter terms, 8 lb equates to approximately 0.25 mm and 12 lb to approximately 0.30 mm. The two models also differ in their optimum casting weight range. The \u003cem\u003eF8\u003c\/em\u003e works best with \u003cstrong\u003ecasting weights of 3 - 5 g\u003c\/strong\u003e, making it an excellent match for rods with an L rating.
