To reduce weight still further, they divided the reel into two main assemblies. The rear unit - comprising the \u003cstrong\u003eMQ (Monocoque) body\u003c\/strong\u003e and the \u003cstrong\u003eTough Digigear\u003c\/strong\u003e drivetrain machined from duralumin - was already very light and highly durable, leaving comparatively little room for improvement there. So Daiwa focused their development efforts on the \u003cstrong\u003efront unit: rotor, spool, bail arm and main shaft\u003c\/strong\u003e. The result of completely redesigning these components and \u003cstrong\u003ereducing their weight\u003c\/strong\u003e is the \u003cstrong\u003eAIRDRIVE SYSTEM\u003c\/strong\u003e - a set of technologies that gives you a greater sense of control, cuts weight still further and delivers an even smoother, quieter retrieve.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eThe 4 Key Technologies of the AIRDRIVE SYSTEM\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe AIRDRIVE SYSTEM consists of \u003cstrong\u003e4 key technologies\u003c\/strong\u003e: the \u003cem\u003eAIRDRIVE Rotor\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eAIRDRIVE Bail\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eAIRDRIVE Spool\u003c\/em\u003e and, linking the front and rear assemblies, the \u003cem\u003eAIRDRIVE Shaft\u003c\/em\u003e. Together, these four technologies deliver a \u003cstrong\u003elighter reel with a softer, quieter retrieve\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003eAIRDRIVE Rotor and AIRDRIVE Bail\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe AIRDRIVE Rotor is the centrepiece of the AIRDRIVE SYSTEM. Like the Air Rotor it replaces, it is machined from \u003cstrong\u003eZAION\u003c\/strong\u003e, but features a more curved profile. This redesign is \u003cstrong\u003eequally robust yet more compact and lighter\u003c\/strong\u003e, saving \u003cem\u003e16% of the rotor's weight\u003c\/em\u003e alone. The AIRDRIVE Bail, with its \u003cstrong\u003eZAION\u003c\/strong\u003e bail foot, is a further development of the Air Rotor concept. The bail has been refined so that line \u003cem\u003efeeds more smoothly into the line roller\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eline twist is further reduced\u003c\/em\u003e. The slimmer bail arm also sheds weight - a substantial \u003cem\u003e33% compared to its predecessor\u003c\/em\u003e. Together, these two components reduce start-up resistance and deliver \u003cstrong\u003ea more even, smoother rotation\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003eAIRDRIVE Spool\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe AIRDRIVE Spool has been made \u003cstrong\u003eslightly slimmer and therefore lighter\u003c\/strong\u003e. The upper spool lip features the \u003cem\u003eLong Cast ABS design\u003c\/em\u003e, which enables up to \u003cstrong\u003e5% longer casts\u003c\/strong\u003e. Equally well thought through is the lower spool lip: a raised section known as the \u003cem\u003eSpool Skirt\u003c\/em\u003e \u003cstrong\u003esignificantly reduces the risk of line slipping beneath the spool\u003c\/strong\u003e and causing frustrating tangles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003eAIRDRIVE Shaft\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe AIRDRIVE Shaft connects the front and rear main assemblies. Here, Daiwa has further developed their Linear Shaft technology. A \u003cem\u003eLow Contact structure\u003c\/em\u003e between the shaft and pinion gear \u003cstrong\u003ereduces friction and further improves the smoothness of the retrieve\u003c\/strong\u003e. If you've ever turned the handle on a previous Exist, it seems almost impossible that it could get any smoother - but Daiwa has managed it. The reduced yet optimised contact between shaft and gear makes itself felt \u003cem\u003eespecially under load\u003c\/em\u003e, and the reel simply runs \u003cem\u003eeven better\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eHigh-Quality Ball Bearings Across a Wide Range of Applications\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e12 ball bearings\u003c\/strong\u003e is a generous count - and when those bearings are \u003cstrong\u003ehigh quality\u003c\/strong\u003e, it makes a real difference to how the reel performs. \u003cem\u003e2 MS and 10 CRBB ball bearings\u003c\/em\u003e ensure that the \u003cstrong\u003eexceptional components\u003c\/strong\u003e of this reel deliver \u003cstrong\u003eexceptional performance\u003c\/strong\u003e. CRBB stands for Corrosion Resistant Ball Bearings, which means this fixed spool reel is suited to \u003cstrong\u003eboth fresh and salt water use\u003c\/strong\u003e. These bearings offer up to 12 times the corrosion resistance of conventional ball bearings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eMagSealed - Four Times Over\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMagSealed\u003c\/strong\u003e technology is present in \u003cstrong\u003e4 locations\u003c\/strong\u003e: at the rotor, at the line roller and on both sides of the gear housing.
