Compared to the larger model, it not only has a smaller body but also a reduced buoyancy. It sits a little deeper in the surface film, and that is very much by design: the lower riding position increases hookup rates, particularly on tentative takes. Like its bigger sibling, this lure can be twitched gently or retrieved with a steady wind. Pausing the retrieve can be very effective, though it is by no means essential.

Insects that fall onto the water are an important food source for many species. Trout and chub are two you can rely on with this lure, but perch and asp will not pass up such a tempting morsel either - both are predators that regularly show at the surface.
