The Squirrel series has a strong reputation among lure anglers - and deservedly so. Originally designed for the Australian market with barramundi in mind, the Jackall Flat DD Squirrel 79 SP takes a different approach. This longbill minnow with flat side crankbait elements has a deeper, more pronounced back profile, making it noticeably more voluminous than the standard Squirrels. That added bulk makes it considerably more visible in the water and allows for a particularly slow, controlled retrieve. What works on barramundi translates just as well here, and the result is a genuinely versatile option for a wide range of predators in both fresh and salt water - perch, largemouth bass, zander, pike, sea bass and other species alike.

Intense Light Reflections and a Measured Retrieve

Thanks to its excellent running stability and build quality, the Jackall Flat DD Squirrel 79 SP can be worked at a brisk pace, and twitching it will certainly produce results. Its real strength, however, lies in a slower, more deliberate retrieve. Steady winding with stop & go pauses built in between is where this lure shines. As a suspending hard lure, it simply hangs in the water during those pauses - and stays irresistibly tempting throughout. The tall, flattened flanks play a major part in this, generating intense light reflections and giving the lure excellent reactivity. In colder water in particular, it should have a clear edge over conventional, more active crankbaits and makes for a strong alternative to classic twitchbaits.
