Here you'll find the most common leader types for predator fishing. When it comes to your leader, there's no room for compromise - make sure you're properly set up for every situation.
Wire traces and titanium leaders are absolutely pike-proof.
In most situations, fluorocarbon leaders are the ideal choice. If pike are present in the water, though, you should consider switching to a pike-proof leader.
That depends on the material, the technique you're using and the conditions on the day. Pike-proof leaders are usually 20-40 cm long, while fluorocarbon and mono leaders tend to run 40-100 cm or longer.
There are several reasons for this. Leaders are generally more abrasion-resistant, less visible, have a degree of stretch and are sinking - and some are pike-proof. Put all that together and there are real advantages to adding a leader in front of your main line.
Wire, titanium, fluorocarbon, hard mono and monofilament line.
