Trout Fishing

Trout fishing is hugely popular in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Even in the Netherlands there are many anglers who head out regularly to fish for trout. Are trout your number-one target species? Then you are in the right place. You'll find all the modern lures and bait for targeting trout. Our finesse lures, the micro baits, the mini plugs and all combination lures are real trout magnets in the water. The premium GTT trout spoons are extremely popular and effective.

Which Lure Works for Trout?

Among trout anglers, opinions often differ when it comes to lure choice. There is a section of trout anglers who prefer to fish with natural bait. For all experimentally minded natural bait anglers, you'll find the Berkley trout baits here. The Power Baits and trout doughs are by now well known - even to the trout themselves. Completely new are the Trout Pellets and the Waxies. If you want to specifically target large trout in future, our trout lures are always worth a try. The biggest trout we have caught came on small crankbaits, mini plugs and a well-chosen selection of finesse baits.

Match Your Lure to the Water

Choosing the right trout lure depends first and foremost on the water you're fishing. A large, deep reservoir calls for entirely different lures than a shallow, fast-flowing stream. Every experienced trout angler carries lure sets matched to the spot and, in some cases, sorted by season as well. With a solid base of trout lures, you will be well prepared for most situations.

For deep, still waters - and also for large rivers - the Fish Snax Drop-Shot Fly by Fox Rage is a highly effective trout lure. Trout chase large streamer flies and exceptional catches are possible at any time. You can fish these dense, weighted flies by trolling, with or without a float, or offer them vertically on a drop shot rig. A chunky perch can always join the party too.

If you prefer proper jig baits, the Berkley Pulse Spintail in the 5 g version is an excellent choice. The small spin tail jigs are still something of an insider tip for trout fishing. We caught many big perch on the early prototypes of these baits. Since the full launch, catch reports of large trout on the spin tail jigs have been coming in steadily.

Plugs for Trout Fishing

For all fans of plugs for trout fishing, our top lure recommendation is the Salmo Hornets range. These mini plugs stand out with an enormous amount of detail and outstanding build quality. One of the Pike & Perch team's favourite plugs from the brand is the Salmo Rattlin' Hornet in 3.5 cm in the Silver Blue Shad colour.

Fishing with Spoons

We now stock spoons from several quality brands. You can choose from light finesse spoons through to heavier spoons. The lighter spoons are ideally suited to small streams and typical trout lakes. The large, heavy spoons are the first choice for all big trout waters. Thanks to their distinctive shape, these larger spoons run effectively even in very strong currents.

Here you can watch our tips on lure fishing for brown trout:
