Lightweight Baitcasters for a Wide Range of Applications

The Savage Gear SG8 BC LH is the colour-matched companion to the SG4 rod series in the Savage Gear baitcaster range, finished in a precisely matching olive. Aluminium construction throughout keeps the SG8 remarkably stable while staying incredibly light. Savage Gear took its own approach to the design, placing particular emphasis on functionality and ease of use. On the 250 size, the centrifugal brake is accessible directly from the outside without opening the side plate. The smaller 100 size has a smooth side plate for cleaner handling, though it opens easily whenever you need to adjust the cast control. The spool brake knob is retained against loss, and the drag is fitted with a subtle drag clicker that lets you know during the fight when a powerful fish is taking line. The handle is machined from aluminium and heavily milled out to save weight while maintaining lasting rigidity - a detail that looks as good as it performs. At just 180 g for the 100 size and 195 g for the 250, both are true lightweights that still deliver outstanding stability and a maximum drag of 9 kg across both sizes. The precision-machined gearing runs smoothly and makes fishing these reels a genuine pleasure. To cover as wide a range of applications as possible, both sizes are available in two gear ratios - 6.6:1 and 8.1:1 - so you can match the reel to your technique. For lubrication, Savage Gear uses its own products, Dura Oil and Dura Grease, both engineered to perform across a wide temperature range and stay exactly where they are applied, significantly extending the service life of the reel.

• The 100 size is suited to light and medium lure fishing for perch, zander, and pike with lighter lures from approximately 6 g up to around 50 g.
