A Lipless Twitchbait for Freshwater

Long established in salt water and well regarded for their effectiveness there, lipless twitchbaits have built a strong following among sea anglers. Yo-Zuri has taken that same proven concept and brought it into the freshwater arena with the 3DB Twitchbait SS. The body is identical to the saltwater version, but it comes fitted with black nickel treble hooks, different split rings, and colour schemes that have been proven on freshwater species. Available in 2 sizes, it is particularly effective on largemouth bass, perch, and pike. It would also work well for sea bass in principle, but as the hooks are not saltwater-resistant, you would need to swap them out for suitable treble hooks first. Because the lipless twitchbait format is used relatively rarely in freshwater, it is especially interesting on heavily fished waters where the predators have become wary and experienced. What they haven't seen before triggers curiosity - and curiosity often leads to a take.

Slow Presentation and Striking Visuals

The Yo-Zuri 3DB Twitchbait SS performs best when worked with variety but at a relatively slow pace. A sequence of steady retrieve, one or two twitches, a pause to let it sink, then repeat has proved particularly effective. On the retrieve it produces a rolling action, and when twitched it breaks sideways with a sharp darting action. During the pause it sinks slowly, which means you can work it through shallow areas at a very relaxed pace. It is also a strong choice when predators are feeding just below the surface but ignoring surface lures entirely. As a subsurface bait, it runs just beneath the film and reliably draws reaction strikes. Beyond its action in the water, the visual appeal adds considerably to its fish-catching ability. Several colour schemes feature an internal 3D prism that reflects light intensely and throws out plenty of flash. Others are lightly translucent or fully painted. In both cases, whether it is the 3D prism or the paint finish, the finish is applied from the inside. This significantly increases the durability of the colour schemes, as the teeth of the predators cannot damage them. The hard ABS body protects the finishes reliably.
