Hänels ZANDER Soft Lure by Zeck
The ZANDER Range from Zeck was developed in collaboration with German zander specialist Sebastian Hänel. The ZANDER soft lures are part of this range and come in 3 sizes, all shaped by Hänel's input. Their slim profile with a small paddle tail produces a high-frequency action with minimal pressure waves. Hand-poured and fitted with striking, durable eyes, these shads use strong contrast to trigger takes - zander react sharply to contrast, making those eyes a natural attack point. The Zeck Hänels ZANDER shads work particularly well on a jig head, but depending on size they also fish effectively on a drop shot rig, various finesse presentations, and as a trailer for chatterbaits.
The 3 Sizes
All three sizes of the Zeck Hänels ZANDER share the same soft, flexible rubber compound that holds up through many bites and fights.
The Small: 9 cm
The smallest ZANDER shad measures 9 cm and weighs 5.9 g. Its compact build gives it outstanding casting properties, and its lively action reliably draws zander when they are locked onto smaller prey. It is also a great soft plastic for targeting perch, where its versatility proves equally useful.
The Medium: 12 cm
A classic size for a classic zander soft lure. The medium ZANDER shad at 12 cm and 10.2 g is what most anglers reach for when targeting zander - and with good reason, as fish of all sizes take it freely, giving you both quantity and quality. First developed in 2004, it remains exceptionally effective to this day. The slim, streamlined profile makes it ideal for strong currents and deep water, while its instant action means it also fishes very well light and shallow. Zander of any size can engulf and fold it with ease. Thanks to its specially shaped nose, it also lends itself perfectly to drop shot presentations.
The Large: 16 cm
The largest size has been in the range since 2013. At 16 cm it is a proper mouthful, yet at 23.0 g it remains light enough to fish on a standard zander jigging rod. It is the right choice when you are targeting big zander in large rivers or other waters with specimen potential - the size filters out smaller fish, while mid-sized zander can still take and fold the lure comfortably. In this size, the Zeck Hänels ZANDER shad develops a pronounced rolling action that is refined by the high-frequency paddle tail movement, yet it still produces minimal pressure waves - which when zander fishing is often more effective.
UV-Active and Non-UV-Active Colours
The Zeck Hänels ZANDER shad is available in 12 colour patterns in total, some UV-active and some not:
- UV-Active: Gürkchen, Fischli, Blondi, Violettglitter, Reaktor, Törtelgrün, Purple Chartreuse, Motoroil
- Non-UV-Active: Sandmann, Rauchglitter, Brauni, Goldglitter, Nachtschatten, Pinki

Hänels ZANDER Gummi 16 cm / Violettglitter
The 16-mm purple glitter simply makes a difference in winter. If you specifically target large walleye, Then you are well advised to use this rubber. I would love to buy again.

Hänels ZANDER Gummi 12 cm / Brauni
Thanks to the slim shape, it is also good in stronger flows. The small paddle tail does not create as much pressure and the sinking phase is better with less weight.
Hänels ZANDER Gummi 9 cm / Gürkchen
Just great! I fish for the pickle on the Elbe near Hamburg. The bait has a good bite frequency and folds perfectly through the soft mix. The bait still withstands a good many bites. Just great!

The #1 walleye gum of choice. Have such confidence in this bait that I don't have any others in my box anymore. Much to the chagrin of the walleye...
