Japanese manufacturer Bassday has built a strong reputation for high-quality hard lures, and the Mogul Crank Target 5 is a fine example of that pedigree.

A Crankbait Built for Bottom Bouncing

The Bassday Mogul Crank Target 5 is a sizeable crankbait fitted with an exceptionally long diving lip. That lip drives the lure reliably down to a running depth of 4.5 to 5 m, and Bassday placed great emphasis during development on verifying that this depth is reached consistently under normal fishing conditions. This makes the Mogul Crank Target 5 particularly well suited to bottom bouncing - a technique where you repeatedly tick the crankbait along the bottom, kicking up small puffs of silt that draw the attention of nearby predators. Large perch and zander respond especially well to this approach. Pike are equally unable to resist it, so using a wire trace or titanium leader is always advisable.

Further Features of the Mogul Crank Target 5

Bassday didn't stop at optimising the running behaviour. The Mogul Crank Target 5 also incorporates a magnetic weight transfer system combined with a specially positioned middle eye. Together, these two features deliver long casting distances and prevent the treble hooks from tangling and spinning over each other during the cast. Once the crankbait hits the water, the Automatic Swimming System (ASS) immediately orients the lure with the diving lip pointing downward, so it responds to the first turn of the handle and dives quickly and reliably to depth. A crankbait of this size with such a long diving lip generates considerable water resistance, so it is well worth fishing it on a baitcasting rod paired with a baitcaster, as that combination handles the pressure far more comfortably.
