Illex Night Shadows (Spinning)

Japanese Technology Meets European Needs

The ILLEX Night Shadows spinning rod series was developed specifically for freshwater fishing. It came about through a collaboration between the European ILLEX team and their product managers, bringing Japanese technology together with the demands of European anglers - and the result has earned these rods an outstanding reputation. Each rod is built on a blank of finest Toray carbon and fitted with top-quality components throughout. The guides are tangle-free Fuji K-Alconite rings, which reliably prevent the line from wrapping around the guides on the cast and give each rod outstanding casting performance. The Fuji VSS reel seat offers a secure fit for your reel and a very comfortable grip in hand. The split grip design adds to that feel, pairing fine Portuguese cork for the upper section with high-density EVA foam at the butt end - a combination that looks as good as it feels. The ILLEX Night Shadows spinning rods have an elegant design that matches their performance in every respect, and each rod is supplied in a quality rod sleeve.

Wild & Docile

The ILLEX Night Shadows S 2102 ML-M Wild & Docile is a highly versatile two-piece spinning rod that works equally well from the bank or the boat. At 2.10 m, it gives you long casting distances and outstanding lure control. The blank has a fast action and is ideal for working small to medium lures. This is a particularly all-round rod that excels when targeting perch, but is also well suited to lighter zander fishing.

Power Finesse

The Illex Night Shadows S 215 ML Power Finesse has a 1+1 construction - that is, it comes with a removable butt section. It is designed for finesse techniques such as drop shot, wacky rig, weightless rig and very light jig heads, but handles small surface lures, twitchbaits and crankbaits just as well. That breadth of application makes it a natural choice for perch fishing. The extremely sensitive tip delivers highly precise lure presentation and picks up even the lightest take without fail, while the powerful backbone gives you the authority to play bigger fish and keeps you in control near snags.

Water Rhythm

The ILLEX Night Shadows S 215 MH Water Rhythm is a spinning rod with a 1+1 construction, meaning the butt section is detachable and the blank runs through its extra fast action without any joint interrupting it. This rod is right at home when you are fishing near cover such as weed beds or sunken timber for perch and zander. The blank is light, yet it carries real power: strikes transmit hard and direct, and the backbone helps you keep fish away from cover. The rod was primarily conceived for soft plastics and handles them across a wide range of presentations - vertical jigging, standard jigging, Texas rig in cover, weightless rigs and various finesse rigs all work equally well with it. It is also an excellent choice for twitchbaits and spinnerbaits.

Swimbait Driver

The Illex Night Shadows S 2202H Swimbait Driver is a pike rod built for medium-sized lures. Its 2.20 m length means you can fish it comfortably from the bank or the boat and still achieve long casting distances. The action and sensitivity let you feel every twitch and the vibration of the lure, while the strong backbone ensures a solid hook-set and provides the reserves to play big pike with confidence. True to its name, it is an excellent match for both soft and hard swimbaits, and it handles large twitchbaits and medium-sized jerkbaits with equal ease - a great rod for pike fans.

Darksiders

The ILLEX Night Shadows S 2402 M-MH Darksiders is a standout choice when you are fishing soft lures from the boat or the bank. At 2.40 m it delivers not only long casts with great precision but also very accurate lure control. Whether you are fishing at distance or working deeper sections of water, the rod provides exceptional feedback and the responsive blank lets you react instantly to even the most tentative bite. The Darksiders is a natural fit for zander fishing, and it doubles up well for lighter pike work too.

Power Spin

The Illex Night Shadows S 2602MH-H Power Spin was developed specifically for bank fishing for pike and zander. You can use it to jig soft lures on a jig head in the classic style, or to work hard lures such as large twitchbaits, smaller jerkbaits and swimbaits. It is also highly effective and genuinely enjoyable when targeting asp at long range. If you like fishing big rivers and lakes for pike and zander and have an eye on asp too, this rod will serve you very well.
