Savage Gear Mutant Rat Soft LB

An Innovative Soft Lure Rat Built for Aggressive Strikes

The Savage Gear Mutant Rat Soft LB is a soft plastic lure available in 2 large sizes that imitates a rat in an innovative way. It is based on a 3D scan of a real rat, giving it a particularly realistic head with impressive attention to detail. That head flows into a flexible, deeply ribbed body that folds easily when a pike bites down, allowing it to inhale the lure cleanly - ideal conditions for a solid strike. The body splits into 5 limbs: 2 gecko-inspired ball fingers, 2 oversized curly tail frog legs, and a long rat tail. Together, they create a compelling mix of subtle micro-action from the fingers, strong turbulent movement from the legs, and a restrained, minimalist tail action. Even at the slowest retrieve, this combination of movements comes alive and draws the attention of pike. More often than not, that alone is enough to trigger a fierce attack. If not, the built-in attractant scent provides one final trigger to persuade even the most cautious followers to commit.

Perfect for Shallow Water and a Wide Range of Rigging Options

The Savage Gear Mutant Rat Soft LB is ideally suited for fishing close to or even inside cover - exactly the kind of spots where a real rat might swim and fall prey to a hungry pike. To keep the lure weedless through aquatic vegetation, it works superbly on an EWG hook - that is, an offset hook with an extra-wide gap - so you can work the Mutant Rat Soft LB through lily pads, reeds, and similar cover without snagging. Alternatively, you can rig it on a Screw Rig such as the Shallow Rig, or pair it with the Mutant Rat Hard Head. Both options work extremely well.
