The Shimano Ultegra FD is Shimano's flagship fixed spool reel in the mid-range segment. As part of the Coresolid family, it combines durability and refinement for demanding applications. Its robustness makes it an excellent choice for fishing with hard-pulling lures. From ultralight through to heavy pike fishing, this reel series covers the full spectrum of modern predator fishing. To achieve this, it draws on advanced features normally reserved for Shimano's flagship models such as the Stella. Fresh or Salt, This Reel Handles It All

Several technologies work together to maximise the reel's resilience. Infinityxcross and Infinitydrive reduce friction to improve cranking efficiency, making it easier to wind in even under pressure. X Protect provides outstanding resistance to both fresh and saltwater. In addition to a water-repellent treatment, a non-contact labyrinth structure in the line roller effectively prevents the ingress of water, salt and dirt. The 5+1 A-RB ball bearings are sealed and well protected as well.

Maximum Casting Distance and Fatigue-Free Casting

The body of the Shimano Ultegra FD is built from lightweight, durable CI4+ material and shaped using G Free Body technology. This shifts the reel's centre of gravity closer to the rod, resulting in dynamic, fatigue-free casting. To back this up with genuine casting distance, the reel is fitted with a Long Stroke AR-C spool. Its V-shaped spool lip allows the line to peel off in tighter loops, maximising casting distance and reducing the risk of tangles. The comparatively long spool core also distributes the line across a larger surface area, contributing further to better casting performance. You can reach even distant spots with ease and cover those extra metres to where a predator is waiting. The Anti Twist Fin supports the spool by ensuring your line is always wound on neatly and under tension.

The role is simply awesome. I borrowed them from a buddy beforehand and caught a few things (mefo, pike and zander) in the combination with a Yasei Perch. The rewinding service at LMAB worked great. That's how I received the roll ready for use.
