Sportex Hydra RS-3

3rd Generation - Maximum Performance from Cast to Strike to Fight

The Sportex Hydra RS-3 is the 3rd generation of this rod series, and it has received a significant upgrade in the form of a newly developed Helicore Blank built from Torayca T800 Carbon - very light yet powerful. The blank delivers very fast recovery speed, direct feedback and high power reserves. The handle section is reinforced with modern Carbon Mesh, which not only looks sharp with its sporty, dynamic aesthetic but also provides added stability and durability. The tip section, by contrast, is left without mesh and uncoated to keep weight low and the action quick - additional weight in the tip would slow the rod down. The rods feature an Extra Fast Action, where the tip flexes in the upper third before transitioning into a stiff backbone. This supports highly sensitive bite detection while still allowing powerful, long casts. You can use a wide variety of lures with these rods - soft plastics, hard lures or jigs, the Hydra RS-3 has been built with an action optimised for versatility. These rods deliver the combination of pinpoint accuracy and uncompromising power across every stage - from the cast through the strike to the fight.

Top Performance Through Top Components

The Sportex Hydra RS-3 earns its reputation through the quality of its components throughout. Alongside the already mentioned Torayca T800 Carbon blank, everything else is built to the same standard. Running from the tip down to just above the grip, the slim modern Seaguide ring configuration delivers excellent casting performance - the line glides through with minimal friction for greater distance, and retrieval is pleasantly quiet. Between the grip and the first ring sits the Seaguide D-Hook keeper, whose design stays out of the way of your fingers while holding even larger hooks securely in place. The full EVA grip provides a very secure hold in any situation and looks the part with its sporty design. The EVA material is extra firm, which supports better transmission of the rod's feedback to your hand. The Fuji reel seat keeps the fixed spool reel firmly locked in place even under full load. Everything on the Hydra RS-3 works together, giving you a rod with enormous versatility for varied predator fishing.
