Illex Suisen

Small Lure, Big Attention

The Illex Suisen is a micro-crawler imitation and an excellent surface lure for calmer stretches of river or still waters. It mimics a range of prey found on the surface - an insect, a frog, or even a small rodent. Two wings generate a crawling action that predators find hard to ignore, while a rotating tail section adds extra water displacement and draws attention from distance. Together, these two features provoke explosive surface attacks. When you cast the Suisen, both wings fold back to reduce air resistance and help you reach the distance you need. Its compact size also makes it easy to place accurately around snags such as overhanging trees.

Ideal for Chub, Trout and Co.

As a micro-crawler, the Illex Suisen fits the feeding profile of a wide range of predators, both native and non-native. In home waters, it is chub and trout in particular that struggle to resist a snack off the surface - but perch will also take it readily, and the odd pike will snap at it too. Among non-native species, largemouth bass have proven especially willing takers. Surface lures of this type have long been a staple in the tackle boxes of bass pros around the world.
