Illex Momouse

A Mouse as a Wakebait

The Illex Momouse was developed by pro staffer Morgan Calu - and named after him: Mo-Mouse = Momouse. This mouse imitation features a solid ABS body paired with a supple, articulated tail. The chunky body and diving lip combine to produce a pronounced wobbling action with plenty of vibration on the retrieve. You can work it at or just below the surface, where it pulls a distinctive wake behind it - making it a genuine wakebait option that gets lethargic predators moving. It fishes so effectively in this role that you can also crank it back quickly with the rod tip pointed down to trigger savage reaction bites.

Small but Deadly

The Illex Momouse is compact and weighs just 7 g, which means it works well on light to medium spinning rods and baitcasting rods. An internal metal ball gives it good casting distance, so you can cover water efficiently. What might surprise you is just how many species fancy a mouse for a snack: perch, pike and largemouth bass are the obvious candidates, but chub and trout will take a swing at it too. Worth a go.
