The body is constructed from Daiwa's own ZAION V composite material, combining minimal weight with outstanding rigidity while reliably protecting the smooth-running, powerful Digigear drivetrain. The innovative Airdrive Rotor makes for a noticeably effortless retrieve: its strategic cut-outs significantly reduce inertia and minimise start-up resistance, all while maintaining excellent torsional stiffness. The reduced weight at the front also optimises the overall balance of the reel, giving you finer lure control and a more responsive bite detection. Under pressure, the proven ATD drag performs without compromise: its specialist drag grease adjusts its viscosity dynamically under load, so the drag engages completely free of any initial jerk and works smoothly and with full control even during explosive runs.

Made in Japan, the Daiwa J-Braid X8 in the highly visible colour Chartreuse is a stretch-free, 8-strand round braid suited to both freshwater and saltwater fishing.
