Baitcasting Rods Developed in Close Collaboration with the Pro Staff
The Daiwa Pro Staff (Casting) are refined baitcasting rods whose name reflects the exceptionally close collaboration with the pro staff team during development. The series covers a range of rods, most of them optimised for specific techniques and applications, all sharing the same high-specification blank technologies. The blanks combine Nanoplus and HVF Carbon technologies with the X45 carbon fibre construction. Nanoplus keeps the rods very light yet remarkably strong, while HVF Carbon - with its reduced resin content - lowers the overall weight, sharpens the action and creates the foundation for perfect balance. The X45 carbon fibre construction arranges carbon fibres at a 45° angle, combined with 90° and 0° fibres, making the blanks stiffer and more torsion-resistant without sacrificing flexibility. The result is a rod that supports every phase of your fishing: accurate casting, precise lure presentation and the confidence to play large fish without losing control.
From All-Round Versatility to Dedicated Specialists
The Daiwa Pro Staff (Casting) range includes an all-round rod alongside a number of specialists built for specific techniques and lure types, each optimised to the finest detail for maximum effectiveness. Here is what the series contains:
Allround
The Daiwa Pro Staff (Casting) Allround is the most versatile rod in the series, measuring 2.30 m with a casting weight of 8-35 g. Its purpose is to keep you ready for a wide range of situations on the water. Whether you're working a soft lure, crankbait, spinnerbait, swimbait or other plugs, this rod delivers reliable performance across the board. Outstanding handling and maximum lure control make it equally well suited to bank and boat fishing. The slim, exceptionally well-balanced blank with a fast action contributes directly to precise casting performance and accurate lure presentation. The rod telegraphs every nudge and twitch, while its power reserves are more than capable of handling a big fish. Visually, it stands apart from the other models with its Hard EVA Split Grip and a removable hook keeper.
Big Mama's Caster
The Daiwa Pro Staff (Casting) Big Mama's Caster are 2 powerful baitcasting rods built for large soft plastics and swimbaits when targeting big pike. Despite their power, these rods are remarkably light and perfectly balanced, letting you fish all day without fatigue - a significant advantage when working large lures. The high-quality carbon blanks combine excellent casting properties with substantial power reserves and direct feedback. The tip action loads effortlessly on the cast, producing impressive distances. Under pressure, the rods prove both strong and flexible, absorbing the hard head-shakes of big fish and reducing lost fish as a result. A defining feature of the Pro Staff (Casting) Big Mama's Caster is the grip design: an innovative Spiral Grip construction in EVA that provides excellent grip and high levels of comfort even in wet conditions and when working heavy lures.
Finesse Rig
The Daiwa Pro Staff (Casting) Finesse Rig is a 2.05 m rod with a casting weight of 3-12 g. It is the lightest rod in the series and a standout choice for perch anglers and finesse rig enthusiasts. It is built for soft lures, craws and creature baits across a range of finesse rigs. The sensitive tip loads even under minimal weight, enabling impressive casting distances. At the same time, it delivers exceptional feel during the retrieve, and in combination with a powerful backbone provides great feedback and outstanding bite detection. You feel every touch, while the backbone has the authority for a confident strike and the ability to handle a big by-catch. The EVA and carbon fibre grip combination is as pleasing in the hand as it looks. The Pro Staff (Casting) Finesse Rig brings together high sensitivity, strong casting performance, impressive load capacity and excellent balance, making it a natural fit for catching perch and similar species on finesse rigs.
Jerk & Swim
The Daiwa Pro Staff (Casting) Jerk & Swim are 2 baitcasting rods designed for pike fishing with large lures. Developed together with team angler and pike specialist Nils Gabsa, these rods are built around the demands of modern big bait fishing. High-quality carbon blanks deliver extreme stability and substantial power reserves, while the grip features the same Spiral Grip construction found on the Big Mama's Caster - an EVA split grip that offers maximum grip in wet conditions and under heavy load, along with high levels of comfort when working big lures. The heavier rod with a 165 g casting weight is the right choice for XXL swimbaits but also performs excellently with aggressive big jerkbait fishing. The 120 g version handles large jerkbaits and swimbaits equally well and lends itself particularly to flexible use from both boat and bank.
Pelagic Shooter
The Daiwa Pro Staff (Casting) Pelagic Shooter is a specialist rod aimed at anglers using modern sonar technology. Pelagic sharpshooting - targeting fish in open water with pinpoint accuracy - demands high casting precision and immediate lure control, and this rod has been built exactly for that purpose. It delivers the right combination of precise casting performance and high sensitivity. The stiff, powerful blank with a slightly softer tip is optimised for casting 15-20 g soft lures quickly and with exceptional accuracy. The innovative spiral guide ring arrangement reduces the risk of line wrapping around the rings in wind, chop and low-light conditions - a problem that, at best, results in a missed opportunity and, at worst, in a fish breaking off under tension. Because sharpshooting tends to bring big fish into range, the Pro Staff (Casting) Pelagic Shooter features a powerful backbone for confident hook-setting and the security of knowing you can handle the largest predators. To support this, it is also the only rod in the series with a 1+1 piece construction, providing exceptional stability and a smooth, harmonious bend curve.
