The Illex Freddy Low CW is an addition to the Freddy family, and its defining feature is its sound. The 'Low' in the name refers to the deep, dampened and powerful tone this two-piece swimbait produces. That acoustic signature was developed specifically for difficult conditions: coloured water or poor light that limits visibility underwater. The Illex Freddy Low CW is available in 2 sizes and is primarily a top lure for pike and largemouth bass. With the smaller size, though, don't be surprised if a specimen perch also takes a swipe - they find it hard to resist too. Its action plays a big part in that. Retrieved steadily, it produces a smooth S-shaped swimming action that is particularly effective on pike. Twitch it or work it with sharp turns of the reel handle, however, and the glidebait DNA comes through as it breaks hard to the side. This is irresistible to most predators, and with pauses built in it is also a reliable option in cold-water periods. Both techniques are easy to master - often a straight retrieve is all you need - which makes the Freddy Low CW a great lure for beginners as well.

Versatile Use, with the Option of Adding Weight

Straight out of the box, the Illex Freddy Low CW is an excellent choice for shallow areas, along weedy margins, over weed beds or tight to promising structure. With a maximum running depth of 0.6 m and 1.0 m respectively, it runs shallow by default, but by adding a clip-on weight such as the Illex John Weight you can push it to greater depths. That brings open-water pike and predators holding along deeper drop-offs well within range, extending the already broad scope of the Freddy Low CW considerably. It also has excellent casting properties, allowing you to place it accurately at distance.

360° Rotation for Fewer Lost Fish

The Illex Freddy Low CW is fitted with reinforced 360° ball-bearing swivels, to which the ultra-sharp BKK 6062 1X treble hooks with black nickel coating are attached. These hooks take hold with exceptional reliability, and the swivel makes it significantly harder for a fish to shake free. Together, they contribute decisively to the low hook-loss rate you get when fishing the Freddy Low CW.
