Illex Night Shadows (Casting)

Japanese Technology for European Anglers

The ILLEX Night Shadows Casting is a baitcasting rod series developed specifically for freshwater fishing. Born from a collaboration between the European ILLEX team and their product managers, it brings together Japanese engineering and the demands of European anglers. The blanks are built from the finest Toray carbon and fitted with premium-grade components throughout. Fuji K-Alconite rings keep the line from tangling around the guides during the cast and contribute directly to the outstanding casting performance these rods deliver. The Fuji ACS reel seat locks your baitcaster firmly in place, and combined with the grip design and materials, it gives you an exceptionally comfortable hold. Each rod in the Night Shadows range comes supplied in a quality rod sleeve.

Power Finesse

The ILLEX Night Shadows B 210ML-M is the rod to reach for when you want to work light finesse techniques for perch, zander and largemouth bass. It handles rigs including drop shot, Neko, Jika and split shot with ease, and works equally well with smaller surface lures and twitchbaits. Even light spinnerbaits and chatterbaits can be fished comfortably on it. The integrated carbon grip section sharpens bite detection and gives you precise lure control throughout the retrieve.

Water Things

The ILLEX Night Shadows B 215 MH Water Things is the most versatile rod in the series. It excels with large twitchbaits, medium jerkbaits, soft lures and search lures such as chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. At 2.15 m it casts well from both the bank and the boat. The blank is light and fast yet has real backbone and is perfectly balanced. The Water Things works well for light pike fishing and handles zander and big perch confidently too. Its stated optimum casting weight is 7-28 g, though it can comfortably handle lures up to 35 g. The grip is a split-grip design with Portuguese quality cork at the front and high-density EVA at the rear.

Power Versatile

The ILLEX Night Shadows B 220 MH Power Versatile is a perfectly balanced, highly versatile rod. Whether you're throwing soft plastics on a jig head, various hard lures or metal lures such as spinners and chatterbaits, it handles the lot with ease. At 2.20 m it works equally well from the bank or the boat, generates long casts without effort, and the light but powerful blank lets you play any predator quickly and confidently. An excellent choice for light pike fishing and zander.

Cranking Time

The ILLEX Night Shadows B 220 MH FG Cranking Time was designed specifically for high-resistance lures such as crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, while also performing very well with small to medium-sized swimbaits. All of this makes it a great search-lure rod for covering large areas of water quickly and efficiently. The blank is a composite of fibreglass and high-modulus carbon, giving it an Extra Fast action that still absorbs lure vibration throughout the retrieve, resulting in excellent fishing comfort. Its backbone provides the power to play even large pike securely and under control. The grip is a full EVA design, tapered centrally for ergonomic comfort.

Big Bait Special

The ILLEX Night Shadows B 220 XH Big Bait Special is built for fishing large lures for pike. Swimbaits, spinnerbaits, big shads and large curly tail grubs are exactly what this rod was made for, and it performs particularly well with all of them. It is 100% tuned for big fish, and the powerful blank gives you the authority to handle even the largest pike. A notable feature is the spiral-wrapped ring configuration, which prevents the line from touching the blank under full load during the fight. The grip of the Big Bait Special is a full Portuguese cork design, tapered centrally for ergonomic comfort.

La Brute

The ILLEX Night Shadows B 220 XXH La Brute is brutally powerful. Built for large swimbaits, large soft lures and large spinnerbaits, it is a serious rod for targeting big pike. Spiral-mounted guides ensure the line never touches the blank no matter how deeply the rod is loaded. The blank is so powerful that wels catfish anglers will get just as much out of it.

The Wild Dog

The ILLEX Night Shadows B 250 XXH The Wild Dog is the baitcasting rod for big-pike anglers and wels catfish anglers alike. Large swimbaits such as the Blast Bone 190 or the Gantia 180, and XXL soft lures, are the lures of choice for this rod. A touch of fibreglass in the blank makes it slightly softer, which improves the action during the fight - it loads and springs back more effectively, reducing hook pull rates, while also smoothing out the vibrations of high-resistance lures. Combined with the 2.50 m length, the blank loads perfectly and generates enormous casting distances, almost catapulting lures out on the cast. A serious rod for anyone who wants to target the biggest predators in our waters.

War Dog

The ILLEX Night Shadows B 265XXXH War Dog is the result of three years of development and is the top choice for fishing very large soft lures for the biggest pike. The rod's length combined with its fibreglass content means it loads perfectly, allowing you to cast large lures accurately and a long way. At the same time it gives you excellent lure control with big baits, letting you work them powerfully even at great depth on large waters. This rod is equally at home targeting the biggest pike in Europe or muskies in America.
