JDM Rods at an Accessible Price

The Major Craft Benkei series sits among the entry-level JDM offerings from Major Craft, yet every rod in the range is built around a high-modulus TORAY blank that delivers crisp sensitivity and plenty of backbone when it matters. The tangle-free FUJI K-Alconite guides handle both mono and braid without issue, and contribute to accurate, long casts. Visually, the Major Craft Benkei cuts a refined figure with its black-and-silver finish and gold accents, further complemented by the lacquered FUJI VSS reel seat. These are exceptionally light rods with a level of performance you simply wouldn't expect at this price point.

• Major Craft Benkei BIS-642UL: A two-piece ultralight spinning rod measuring 193 cm with a casting weight of up to 7 g and a fast taper. Depending on the lure and technique, it handles soft plastics of around 1-2 inches on jig heads or weights between 0.4 and 4 g particularly well. Shallow-running twitchbaits up to approximately 40 mm in length and a maximum of 4 g also fish well on this rod.
• Major Craft Benkei BIS-682ML: A two-piece medium-light spinning rod at 203 cm with a casting weight of up to 10.5 g and a regular fast taper. It is well suited to soft plastics of 2-3 inches on jig heads between 3 and 7 g. Shallow-running twitchbaits and minnows up to around 7 cm and a maximum of 6 g can also be fished effectively on this model.
