Rapala Shadow Rap Shad Deep 9 cm

Finnish manufacturer Rapala has been producing outstanding plugs that catch fish around the world for almost a century.

A Great Plug for Finicky Predators

The Rapala Shadow Rap Shad Deep is a twitchbait with a few genuinely distinctive characteristics. Most notably, its swimming behaviour sets it apart: rather than being a suspending lure, it rises back towards the surface extremely slowly in slow motion during the retrieve pause. This perfectly mimics the behaviour of sluggish baitfish repeatedly drifting up towards the surface while feeding, keeping the lure in the strike zone for a prolonged period. A second feature reinforces this. When you fish the Shadow Rap Shad on a slack line and twitch it repeatedly, it kicks sideways by almost 180 degrees while barely moving forward - meaning you can work it almost on the spot. That alone is often enough to trigger strikes from the most hesitant predators. The realistic scale pattern, free of strong flash or glitter, completes the picture: predators aren't put off by an excess of visual stimuli, which on heavily fished waters is frequently the key to getting a take. The Rapala Shadow Rap Shad Deep reaches a running depth of 1.5 to 1.8 m, making it effective in deeper water as well. Fished very slowly, it can also be presented shallower. It pairs beautifully with medium spinning rods.

Build quality and finish are, as you'd expect from Rapala, exceptionally high.
