Fishus Ubuntu

A Silent Popper With Versatile Action

The Fishus Ubuntu was developed by Isaac Lorenzo back in 2012 and has since proven itself a reliable surface lure. This popper runs completely silent - no rattle - making it a particularly interesting choice on waters where noise-generating lures tend to spook fish rather than attract them. Its compact body shape makes it easy to cast, and the retrieve options are both straightforward and varied.

Whether you work it walk-the-dog style, with hard twitches, or on a straight fast retrieve, each approach has its own advantages and makes the Ubuntu a genuinely flexible surface lure. Worked walk-the-dog, it breaks sharply from side to side and combines its popping action with a superb rolling motion. Hit it hard with the rod and it produces a noticeably louder pop, throwing a good deal of water forward. Wind it back at speed and it dips just below the surface, trailing a highly visible bubble trail behind it.

In fresh water, perch, largemouth bass, chub and asp are among the species that find it hard to resist. It also performs just as well in salt water, reliably triggering attacks from sea bass and other marine predators. Thanks to its versatility, the Fishus Ubuntu earns a place in any surface lure box.
