The Madness Balam is built from highly durable ABS hard plastic that holds up even to aggressive pike attacks. The replaceable tail segment is made from softer silicone, which contributes greatly to the overall action. It produces a very lifelike side-to-side rolling movement at any retrieve speed, whether you crank it back slowly or drive it through the water at full pace. That versatility is precisely what makes it so effective on large, educated predators that have long since stopped responding to lures fished at a standard pace. When fishing for largemouth bass, the figure-eight at the side of the boat has proven its worth the moment a fish follows without committing - even wary fish will often strike when provoked that way. It is well worth trying on pike too. Although the Madness Balam runs very shallow and is primarily used in shallow areas, you can add clip-on weights such as the Illex John Weight to make it sink. This opens it up for targeting big open-water pike as well.
