Rapala X-Rap 8 cm in Detail

The X-Rap minnow from Rapala is built around one thing above all else: action. Its slim, three-dimensional hard lure body targets perch, trout and chub, and it changes character entirely depending on how you fish it. Work it with aggressive twitching and it throws out sharp lateral slashes, while the internal holographic foil fires off flashes of light with every movement. Switch to a relaxed, steady retrieve on a tight line and the lure settles into its characteristic 'Wobble'n'Roll' - an easy, rolling action that can be just as effective.

The scale-imitation finish with its built-in lateral line detail gives the lure a convincing, lifelike appearance in the water. The integrated long-cast system shifts weight on the cast for extra distance, so you can put the lure where you want it from well back, and the VMC black nickel treble hooks are sharp enough to convert takes at range. Tail fringe and 3D eyes round out a lure designed to trigger a response, whatever technique you choose.

How to Fish It

The X-Rap rewards experimentation. Aggressive twitching brings out the full slashbait action - erratic, darting movement with hard lateral knocks that predators struggle to ignore. If that doesn't produce, slow right down to a steady retrieve on a taut line and let the 'Wobble'n'Roll' do the work instead. The technique you choose dictates how the lure is presented, so it's worth switching between the two until you find what the fish want on the day.
