Finnish manufacturer Rapala has been producing plugs that catch fish all over the world for nearly a century, and the X-Rap Jointed Shad stands as one of the most enduring lures in that catalogue.

A True Classic from Rapala

The Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad has long since earned its place as a genuine classic among Rapala lures. This two-piece plug has proved its worth on countless occasions and keeps on catching. Over the years the design has been steadily refined and, in particular, the surface finish has been significantly improved, resulting in a lure that can shrug off even the most brutal pike attacks. The jointed body produces a distinctive action that pike find hard to refuse. The diving lip takes it down to 2.4 metres, where it works away with a lively rolling action until - more often than not - a solid take follows. Worked more slowly, it runs noticeably shallower, thanks to a distinctive buoyancy characteristic: the Jointed Shad rises very slowly to the surface during pauses in the retrieve, keeping it in the strike zone even at the slowest possible speeds. At 46 g it casts well on lighter pike rods, and at 13 cm it offers a well-sized mouthful for pike. Build quality is, as you'd expect from Rapala, excellent throughout.
