A Lure That Gives Predators Something to Aim At
The SPRO Iris Popeye 80 is the smaller sibling of the 120 Popeye. Its defining feature - shared with the larger variants - is the oversized eye, designed to trigger aggression and give predators a clear attack point. It works: the Iris Popeye in this size is an exceptionally effective catcher. The eyes tap into one of the most powerful instinctive triggers in nature. As the lure moves through the water, its rolling action causes the eye to shift continuously up and down, while the 3D holographic foil amplifies this effect further. Crucially, the eyes sit in a precisely fitted recess, so they stay firmly in place even after repeated contact with fish. The moderately rearward-angled paddle tail sits at the end of a slender tail section that accounts for roughly a third of the overall length. The small paddle sends out subtle, minimalist pressure waves and produces a gentle side-to-side rolling motion that drives predators wild. Because it picks up this action at the lowest retrieve speeds - or even in sufficient current alone - this soft lure is at home not only in lure fishing but also excels at vertical jigging. The smaller size is a particular favourite with perch and fishes beautifully on light perch rods.
