Stroft's More Affordable Fluorocarbon Line

The Stroft FC 2 Fluorocarbon is the more affordable of Stroft's two high-quality fluorocarbon lines. Compared to the FC 1, the FC 2 has a slightly lower knot strength, yet offers a near-identical linear breaking strain, making it a cost-effective alternative for building leaders without any compromise on quality.

A Strong Set of Properties

The Stroft FC 2 delivers across the board with very high quality and a range of stand-out properties:

Abrasion Resistance: The hard surface gives this material exceptionally high abrasion resistance, making it well suited for use over mussel beds and rocky substrates.
Sink Rate: This material is fast sinking, which makes it an excellent choice for methods where that characteristic matters.
Sensitivity, Feedback & Strike Absorption: Under light loads, the FC 2 stretches very little, making it more sensitive than conventional mono. In the mid-range - where the strike absorption takes place - stretch values are nearly identical to mono. Under heavy load, however, stretch is more pronounced than with mono, which means head shakes and sudden short-range runs are better cushioned than with standard monofilament.
Longevity: Because the FC 2 is almost entirely unaffected by sunlight and other environmental factors, it also delivers an exceptionally long service life.
Low Visibility: With a refractive index of 1.42 - very close to water's refractive index of 1.38 - the FC 2 is virtually invisible underwater.

FC 2 Fluorocarbon 25 m / 0.40 mm / 11.5 kg

Stroft's “budget” fluorocarbon doesn't have to hide. Very wear-resistant, but also easy to knot. I usually have to shorten the leader on the Elbe several times a day. It wasn't the case with FC2 and as a bonus, there was a nice zander.

FC 2 Fluorocarbon 25 m / 0.40 mm / 11.5 kg

I am very satisfied with the 0.40 Fluro from Stroft. The spool has a foam coating which makes storage much easier. I have now primarily used it when fishing for sea bass in the Mediterranean and can only recommend this strength.
