Westin BullTeez Curltail (1 Piece)

The BullTeez Body with a Curly Tail Twist

The Westin BullTeez Curltail does exactly what the name suggests: it takes the body and rolling action of the popular BullTeez shad and pairs it with a curly tail grub. The result is a lure that combines a rolling belly action with the enticing flutter of a curly tail - irresistible to pike and other large predators, especially on days when they turn their nose up at a standard paddle tail shad. One of the best things about it is how easy it is to work. A straight, steady retrieve is all it takes to trigger a highly seductive action, with the tail picking up its flutter even at the lowest retrieve speeds. That makes it ideal for a slow, deliberate wind through open water to tempt pelagic predators. Mix in the occasional burst of speed to provoke reaction strikes. It works just as well retrieved more briskly over shallow weed, where the pronounced vibrations draw pike in from a distance. You can also fish it on a shallow rig, and if you want a weedless presentation, the 21 cm version has slots cut into both back and belly, making it a natural fit for an offset hook rig.

Big Lures, Big Fish

The Westin BullTeez Curltail is available here in the two largest sizes. At 21 cm and 27 cm, the bigger of the two comfortably qualifies as a big bait. The focus is firmly on large predators, though don't be surprised if smaller pike pile in as well - they have no fear of a big lure and make for a welcome distraction while you hunt that next specimen. At 49 g, the smaller size fishes comfortably on a spinning rod, while the larger version at 103 g calls for a baitcasting rod.
