A Goby Imitation with Built-In Weedguard

The Megabass Dark Sleeper was designed specifically to target bottom-hugging predators. This soft plastic is a goby imitation with a moulded-in hook and integrated weight. Its convincing appearance comes from a stocky body with flared pectoral fins and a prominent dorsal fin. The hook sits hidden within that soft dorsal fin, which brings two clear advantages: a cautious fish inspecting the lure cannot spot the hook, and the dorsal fin also acts as a weedguard, reducing snags considerably - no small thing when you're working a lure hard along the bottom. The integrated weight sits extremely low, and combined with those splayed pectoral fins, the shad lies flat on its belly when at rest, completely stable on the deck. Better still, rather than sinking head-down on a jig head, it descends almost horizontally. This makes it particularly effective when you work it with short hops very close to the bottom - exactly where gobies live and where predators come looking for them. Convincing, natural prey imitation is often the deciding factor with experienced, wary big fish, and the beautifully detailed colour schemes - applied by hand using an airbrush - play a major part in that. The Megabass Dark Sleeper is a ready-to-fish soft plastic that targets perch, zander and largemouth bass in fresh water, but works equally well in salt water for sea bass. How to Fish It

Work the Dark Sleeper with short hops very close to the bottom. Because the lure descends almost horizontally and lies flat on the deck between hops, it stays right in the zone where gobies live - and where predators expect to find them.
