The Whopper Plopper 130, like its smaller sibling the Whopper Plopper 90, is a firm fixture in the tackle boxes of professional anglers across the USA - a go-to surface lure for largemouth bass fishing at the highest level.
- Hook: River2Sea (BN) X Strong Treble, size 4
- Pack contents: 1
- Type: Surface lure
- Key feature: The propeller tail generates low-frequency pressure waves
You only need to search a few YouTube videos to see what the Whopper Plopper 130 is capable of on the water.
River2Sea created something genuinely new with the Whopper Plopper 130. At Tackle Warehouse - one of the largest fishing tackle retailers in the USA - it has consistently been among the top-selling lures. A large proportion of US professionals competing in the FLW tournament circuit rely on the Whopper Plopper time and again when targeting largemouth bass.
The Whopper Plopper 130 is primarily used for:
- Largemouth bass
- Pike
- Perch
- Asp
Features of the Whopper Plopper 130
The low-frequency pressure waves produced by the propeller tail attract pike, asp, perch and largemouth bass from distance. This can be a decisive edge on heavily fished waters, because this style of surface lure is still largely unfamiliar to most predators. Crucially, the Whopper Plopper 130 makes itself heard without any rattle. Unlike conventional stickbaits worked with a 'walk the dog' action, the sounds it produces closely resemble natural surface splashing. Since most predators have already encountered the noise of rattling lures - and often avoid them - this natural acoustic quality sets the Whopper Plopper apart. Like all River2Sea lures, the Whopper Plopper 130 is fitted with River2Sea BN X Strong size 2/0 treble hooks, which are both robust and razor sharp. Their construction means they hold firm under pressure and won't straighten out even on big fish, and they achieve a reliable hookset even at long range.
