River2Sea Worldwide Spoon 100

River2Sea has established itself firmly in the lure fishing world. Known globally for the Whopper Plopper, the American manufacturer brings something equally distinctive to the table with the Worldwide Spoon - part of the James Watson Signature Series and a classic metal lure with some genuinely unusual characteristics.

A Spoon with Standout Characteristics

The body of this spoon-shaped metal lure sits at the larger end of the scale, with a lure body length of 10 cm. Including the robust treble hook, it reaches a total length of 13 cm. A lure width of 3.5 cm combined with a weight of 28 g points to a relatively thin material - and that thinness is intentional.

The Special Spoon Shape Is the Key

Viewed from above, the Worldwide Spoon resembles a teardrop-shaped spoon. River2Sea placed particular demands on the metal alloy in terms of high strength and exceptional dimensional stability, which allowed them to keep the material relatively thin. That thinness, in turn, is what drives its outstanding diving behaviour.

The Diving Behaviour of the River2Sea Worldwide Spoon

A great deal of development went into refining the shape of this metal lure. The bowl of the spoon carries a slightly greater material thickness. Immediately after the cast, the lure continues to glide in the direction of the cast while rocking side to side, like a leaf falling through the air. This allows you to reach even the most awkward spots - under a jetty, a boat, overhanging trees or alongside lily pad fields.

This lure was developed primarily for largemouth bass fishing, but it quickly became clear that pike find it equally hard to resist. For this reason, a single hook stinger is looped onto the front eye via braid. This extremely sharp hook is designed specifically for the free-gliding phases - such as immediately after the cast or following a jigging movement.

Important Note for Pike Fishing

Spoons are, of course, highly effective for pike thanks to their fluttering action. We strongly recommend removing the single stinger hook when targeting pike. The braid used is not pike-proof. The stinger can simply be unlooped and looped back in again whenever needed.
